When I heard this on my wireless set (digital radio) yesterday morning I thought it sounded too good to be true. Would it be possible to just book into the local health centre, as for a ‘flu jab, and be told, “You might not get ‘flu this winter, buddy, but you’ve got cancer.”
Seriously though, isn’t it amazing that they can fit a mass spectrometer into something the size of a pen. When I was a teenager in the 1950s, doing A Level Chemistry, and learning about mass spectrometers for the first time, I never thought that in another sixty years we could carry one around in a top pocket.
