Messel is absolutely spot on about working hard at your studies. It is a long time since I heard an “educationist” in the UK express this view. My opening speech at the start of each course in September, was to say that the trick to passing the exam was to attend every session, be on time, work hard while you were there, and complete all homework. Statistically, there was a high correlation between attendance/effort and exam success.
