Robert Hooke – follow up

I have always been a great admirer of Robert Hooke’s scientific activity.  In the 1960s book publishers began to produce facsimile editions of great works which could hitherto only be accessed by recourse to well-endowed reference libraries.

One of these was Hooke’s “Micrographie” a profusely illustrated account of his scientific investigations.  It is not only a fascinating book but a very beautiful one too.  It is one of my most treasured books, albeit it is only a cheap, old paperback.  I have selected three of his “Schema” or illustations, and a little of his text to give some idea of his style.
